Strife Five of Fire Five of Wands tarot card.Sephirothic Planetary Correspondence

The planetary correspondence of Geburah is Mars and each of the minor arcana cards numbered “Five” exhibit this planet’s quality colored by their corresponding elemental suit of  fire, water, air or earth

These four suits correspond to the four worlds of the QBL: Fire: Atziluth, Water: Briah, Air: Yetzirah and Earth: Assiah.

Astrological Decan Allocation

This card is the first decan of Leo, whose planetary attribution is Saturn.

The combination of Five Mars and the decan planetary attribute of Saturn is summed up by the card’s title of Strife.

A Mars Saturn combination in Fire indicates stifling of energy leading to a delay of growth in undertakings.

Considerations

Strife is the title of Five of Fire, the first decan of the astrological sign of Leo.

The Mars Leo combination evokes sensuality but Saturn’s influence impedes the expression of sensuality, resulting in the condition of Strife

Here we witness the image of the mythological hero in conflict with forces antagonistic to the achievement of the said hero’s goals.

In addition, Geburah’s title of Severity introduces this attribute and with it can come obsession to achieve one’s objectives at any cost and this when taken to an extreme, could  possibly result in brutality.

This is the influence manifested by the appearance of Five of Fire, Wands, an  influence reminiscent of Achilles’ personality as depicted in the Iliad.

The card illustrates the  condition one experiences when thwarted from achieving opportunities summoned by the following card Six of Fire Victory. Six of Fire can only be achieved through successful resolution of Five of Fire’s challenges and lessons.

Personality Type

The character qualities of the court card Prince of Fire are those best suited to receive and translate the specific ancestral voice of this decan.

Because of the nobility of this Prince, we find the brutal aspects of this card  tempered. Although expressing qualities of swiftness and strength, his personality is not brutal.

This is paramount for insuring the negative qualities of the card do not run out of control resulting in irreversible situations.  See the major arcana card Tower whose attribute is Mars.

These are personality traits expressed by the Prince of Fire since he corresponds to Air of Fire, Air bringing an analytical component to his character.

Decan Signature

In our failure to understand what any minor arcana card is saying, we should allow ourselves to be driven back to our specific inner voice of the decan for resolution.

In this example of Five of Fire, the conjunction of major arcana cards Strength and Universe, corresponding to Leo and Saturn, are the specific signature of this decan and will be projected through the personality type represented by the Prince of Fire. The Prince of Fire corresponds to Air of Fire.
